Electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Motors has announced plans to accelerate customer deliveries of its highly anticipated Gravity SUV, with production scaling up by late April. This marks a pivotal step for the automaker as it expands beyond luxury sedans into the competitive electric SUV market.

The Gravity SUV represents Lucid’s strategic shift to cater to American preferences for larger vehicles. With seating for seven passengers and a starting price of $94,900, the model combines premium design with cutting-edge EV technology. Key features include:
- Industry-leading 450-mile EPA-estimated range per charge
- Sports car-level acceleration (0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds)
- Proprietary battery architecture for optimized energy density
- Advanced driver assistance systems
Production is currently underway at Lucid’s Casa Grande, Arizona facility, with company executives expressing confidence in meeting delivery timelines. The Arizona-based manufacturing plant positions Lucid to benefit from recent federal trade policies favoring domestic automotive production.
“The Gravity represents our commitment to breaking barriers in EV technology. Owners won’t need to sacrifice space or performance for sustainability,” said Lucid’s interim CEO during a recent product showcase event.
Initial production models have already been delivered to company insiders and employees since December 2024. Public test drive programs are expected to launch in major U.S. markets concurrent with customer deliveries.
Competitive Landscape
The Gravity enters a growing segment dominated by:
- Tesla Model X
- Rivian R1S
- Mercedes EQS SUV
Industry analysts highlight the importance of successful Gravity deliveries for Lucid’s long-term viability. The company’s ability to execute production scaling and maintain quality control will be critical factors in capturing market share in the premium electric SUV category.
