Truecaller, the popular caller identification app, has reached a significant milestone by surpassing 450 million monthly active users globally. This growth represents an addition of 50 million users in the last 10 months and 15.5 million new users since the start of 2025. The company attributes its success to strong performance in key markets and continuous product innovation.
India remains Truecaller’s largest market, contributing significantly to its user base. However, the company has observed accelerated growth in other regions, including Latin America, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Malaysia, and the U.S. Rishit Jhunjhunwala, recently promoted to CEO, emphasized the importance of diversifying their global footprint while maintaining momentum in India.
Despite its success, Truecaller faces potential challenges in India as local telecom authorities plan to introduce a government-backed caller ID system. This development could create competition for the Sweden-based company’s flagship service.
Financially, Truecaller reported strong Q4 2024 results with a 23% increase in net sales and a 29% rise in year-over-year profits. The company’s stock performance has also been robust, showing a 33% increase in value since the beginning of the year.
Recent product enhancements include improved iOS integration for real-time caller ID functionality, closing the feature gap with Android devices. The company has expanded its offerings beyond core caller ID services, introducing features like call recording, transcription, and an AI-powered assistant for call screening. Additionally, Truecaller has been refining its SMS and chat capabilities, including a web client for Android users.
